Claudia plays a colourful mixture of musical styles - mellow yet uplifting acoustic sweetness with hints of folk, jazz, soul and a good sense of fun!! Claudia’s favourite bands/musicians are Queen, Kate Bush, Skunk Anansie, David Bowie, Tori Amos, BB King, Carole King, Aretha Franklin and a whole lot more but she sounds nothing like any of them!
Claudia has being one of Cambridge's busiest bass players for well over 15 years playing with bands such as soul legends Chancellors of Vice, all girl supergroup Gig-L, blues giants Split Whiskers, Cambridge Band Competition winners the Winter Kings and more recently rock superstars 4th Labyrinth (also winners of the Cambridge Band Comp!).
4 years ago she decided to focus on her own songwriting and has been playing solo acoustic gigs as well as fronting her own band "Claudia & the Braidy Bunch".
Claudia has been privileged to play at the Cambridge Folk Festival, the Cambridge Rock Festival and the prestigious Secret Garden Party festival. She also likes to stick her head from the door of the lovely Cambridge Folk Club and will occasionally appear at sessions and open mics around Cambridge.
Claudia is currently working on her debut album "Storms & Silver Linings" which has turned into a bit of an epic undertaking. I shan’t give it a release date until I’m holding the CD in my hands!
“If there is a more upbeat and positive person in Cambridge than Claudia McKenzie then I’d like to meet that person,” (Phyll, Cambridge Fund Raiser & Gig Organiser).
"Claudia seems to be more enjoyable every time I've seen her by not being afraid to experiment with songs covering a variety of subjects delivered with wit, great musical skill and one of the most engaging personalities around." (Michael Judkins - Float Like A Butterfly project)
